„Haunting the Chapel“ ist eine Extended Play (EP), die 1984 von der amerikanischen Thrash-Metal-Band Slayer über Metal Blade und Enigma Records veröffentlicht wurde. Slayers Debütalbum „Show No Mercy“ (1983) wurde das meistverkaufte Album von Metal Blade, was Produzent Brian Slagel dazu veranlasste, eine EP zu veröffentlichen. Die Aufnahmen erfolgten in Hollywood, gestalteten sich jedoch schwierig, da die Schlagzeugaufnahmen in einem Studio ohne Teppichboden stattfanden. Schlagzeuger Dave Lombardo lernte dabei jedoch Gene Hoglan kennen, der seinen Schlagzeugstil und seine Geschwindigkeit maßgeblich beeinflussen sollte.
