Big Brother and the Holding Company war eine bahnbrechende Psychedelic-Rock-Band, die vor allem als Sprungbrett für die legendäre Janis Joplin bekannt wurde. Sie entstand Ende der 1960er Jahre in der pulsierenden Musikszene von San Francisco und ihr rauer, elektrisierender Sound kombinierte bluesige Gitarrenriffs mit Joplins kraftvollem Gesang.
